Meet the 2017 JUDGES
christine skaglund, asla
ten eyck landscape architects - austin, tx
With more than a decade of experience, Christine has covered a broad spectrum of project types, from single-family residential to large-scale urban infill, rural sustainability farming to boutique hospitality. Hailing from California, her early career focus was on residential design, crafting modern landscapes for new gardens as well as mid-century icons from the likes of Richard Neutra and Cliff May. Later, her career shifted toward mixed-use and transit-oriented developments, commercial and retail projects.
As a “tree-hugging modernist,” Christine’s professional interests lie in preservation and restoration of historically significant properties and natural landscapes with an eye toward sustainable design practices. Her career has been spent in historically drought-stricken regions, which has instilled in her the value of water as a precious natural resource and in understanding the importance of site-driven design. Currently, Christine manages several significant projects in Austin and beyond, including the future Hotel Magdalena in Austin’s South Congress and the San Antonio Federal Courthouse.
